Default Azenis RT615 Sizes

Anyone have any insight as to why the 16" Azenis is narrower than the 15" Azenis?

You might try emailing twidener@falkentire.com with this exact question.

Despite what Vulcan Tire says, Falken denies at least some of those dates:

Still looking for info as to WHY the 205/40/16 Azenis is narrower than the 205/50/15 Azenis.

because thats just how falken decided to make them.

What makes you think that just because you have a bigger diameter the tire should be wider?

I don't think they should be wider, it just makes sense that all 205's for a given company are the same width.

Agreed.

The problem is that according to Falken's published specs, the 205/50-15 is substantially wider than the 205/40-16. And its not a measuring rim width issue because the 15 was measured on a narrower rim than the 16.

Now what do you say?

I would say that the narrower wheel caused a wee bit of bulging that caused the 15 to be slightly wider.

According to the Falken 05 data book in my hands the 205-50-15 measures 8.2" on 6.5 inch wheel

the 205-40-16 measures 8.5 on a 7.5 inch wheel

the 205-40-17 measures 8.5" on a 7.5 inch wheel as well

the 215-40-17 measures 8.7" on a 7.5 inch wheel

these are "section width" measurements as well not tread width measurements

section width is sidewall to sidewall.....tread is measured contact width

I don't know where you got your "published specs" but they sound wrong

I'm talking about tread width. I know the 205/40/16 is a wider tire, but the 205/50/15 puts more tire on the ground... Who knows.... I might just take my chances with the 16" and hope the gearing advantage will make me mad fast y0 on those big national tour courses.

I see in the Data book the tread width you are talking about..........

i believe the rim width is th culprit.....but I am on hold with the Tech Dept
just to be sure

waiting for an email from Japan........ where the tires are

Falken is thinking it is a Typo

Does anyone know why the 205/40-16 RT615 will be delivered on fire when the 205/50-15 is only delievered with a can of lighter fluid and a book of matches?

The Japanese seem to have trouble converting English to Japanese, and vice versa (visit http://www.engrish.com for an explanation). The term "drive like your hair is on fire" somehow translated to "light your tires on fire please."
