Help me retire my ITR
With the lease coming to an end, I am looking into my options. One very attractive option is to say good bye to the R and join the S2K crowd. I would really appreciate if you guys can help me find my way in
1. Is the blue color available yet? I have my heart set on a blue one.
2. I am worn out of being extra careful and worried about theft. Every day I have to lose the cars that I THINK are following me home. I have to keep the car parked in sight at work all the time or check on it every couple of hours. I check my badges a couple of times a day... You get the picture.
Do I need to worry as much with a S2K?
3. I have to have a car that is at least as fun as the ITR. What could be a short coming of the S2K compare to the R?
4. How do you compare the built of the S2K and the rest of hondas? ITR for example is very flimsy imho as for door dings and such.
5. I use the R as my daily driver. Can I assume the same about the S2K?
6. What other cars did you consider when you purchased the S2K and why didn't you go with your other choices?
The ITR shall be missed greatly in every way. I will especially miss the fact that I see another R about every other month. S2Ks are far more common - with all due respect - although if nothing else, I find that comforting.
I think I'm gonna cry...

1. Suzuka blue is available, which is the light blue, Monte Carlo blue (the dark blue) is not yet available JDM only.
2. I'd suggest getting an alarm on it. I've heard stories of S2000 owners getting antennas, wheels, seats, etc stolen. Depends where you live. Mine's in the garage for the most part so I'm not as concerned. The car gets a lot of attention, both positive and negative.
3. S2000 is definately a fun car, don't think you'll have a problem. FYI, Consumer Reports rated S2000 most fun car to drive, Celica GTS was rated second most fun. RWD + go kart handling + 6-9k vtec surge = FUN
4. S2000 is a well made car, it is built in Tochigi along with the NSX which is renown for its excellent quality. Most of the bugs have been worked out in MY2000 & MY 2001.
5. I use S2000 as my daily driver most of the year, but I have a beater for when it snows. If you live in Cali or Florida don't see a problem there, but up in PA the occasional snowstorm would leave you s.o.l. S2000 is dangerous to drive in the snow, not worth the risk, plus my insurance went down $800/year by getting a beater.
6. Not a whole lot of competition. I like buying new, unfortunately they stopped selling RX7 & Supra, but those are some other good choices. You can keep in mind the new 350Z and maybe a used NSX but it would have to be a '93 or so to get it for the same $ as S2000.
If you like Honda's, you'll love the S2000, take one for a test drive and see for yourself.

Have to agree with what Spa Yellow S2k..... and don't worry about seeing too many S2k's, you won't see too many , they are not all that common, it makes you feel good knowing this.
I don't think you can go wrong with the S2K. But the monte carlo blue isn't available yet. You can go even better in early model NSX for a little more money. Awesome car. Awesome.
But if you're that protective with the ITR than I can't imagine how you'll be with an NSX.

p.s. keep the R (it is a modern day club racer like the E30 M3!)

I think the only two situations where you'd rather have the ITR are:
1) snow/ice/other traction-limited conditions. The ITR being FWD with an LSD woudl shine in that situation.
2) carrying stuff. The ITR can fit a bunch of stuff in the back end. The S2K trunk is tiny (I think maybe actually smaller than the NSX trunk).
I was really worried about number two. But I've been without my Integra since May, and haven't really missed it in terms of moving stuff (of course, my Integra was 4-door, so it was still limited in what you could carry). However, I'm buying a used Civic hatchback as a beater that'll solve both problems 1 and 2. Not to mention providing a safety should I come into financial difficulty and have to sell the NSX.
As for performance... The ITR doesn't hold a candle to the S2K. You certainly won't be disappointed there.

SpaYellowS2k pretty much narrowed it down, I myself i own a Grand Prix White S2k
Yes that is the soul truth, i've got alot of attention, more posative then negative. I remember once some girls flashed me for a ride in it, Then i remember some lil kids in there camaro tryed running me off the road. But as long as you keep a striat mind when driving you'll be ok. When i say striat mind i mean, do not go out there acting all hard *** to everyone, cause if you live in a area were the S2000 isn't so popular that means your car is marked, someone see's it in a mall parking lot your screwed. But i haven't yet came across a hard *** s2k owner there all kool. There is a few S2000 drivers local to me, i am the only one with a Grand Prix White one though so i kinda watch what i say to others.
I drove a few sports compact cars before i had my s2k. I drove the M-roadster hatchback, that car was truly wonderful, exceleration was great, the seating was alittle tight but it was something worth getting used to. I drove a Miata, nothing spectacular about that besides it came with a 6-spd when it really didn't need one in my opinion with it's 145Hp. I drove the Mr2 spyder by Toyota, those things are nice and roomy but i think they could have intrduced the GT-s 6-spd motor in it instead of the 5-spd, Or if they wanted to get wicked a 3.0L supra TT motor. Then i drove this guys S2000 he was selling, the seating was alittle like the m-roadster, it was alittle tight but you felt one of the car, the handling of the car was truly impressive and exceleration was indeed nice for being a Honda. What i also liked about the s2000 was it's 9500RPM and the sound of the Vtec kicking in was a blessing. The short throw 6-spd was nice as well, my arm rest on the center consul while shifting.
I think if your looking for a Sports Compact Convertable for under 35k the S2000 dominates the feild by all means. I think if you get a S2000 you'll love it Cyberorth. If you haven't drove one yet go and take one for a test drive, But do remember they say if it has under i think it's 1000 miles your not suppose to really rev it high. I heard you gotta break those things in nicly, i bought mine already with over 1000 miles on it and some performance mods already done to it. Good Luck Man and Keep up updated..

I love the S2k but after doing a lot of soul searching I picked the NSX I found a 1991 for $35k with 32k miles and have not looked back..... 10 months later I have now put 14k miles on the car...total 46k and have not had 1 problem....(even with the 100shot nos).... This is by far the best car I have ever owned and I belive I would have a REAL hard time replacing it... Good luck in your search the ITR is a hard car to replace but I look at it this way... If I were going to replace a Modern legend... You might as well replace it with a Ultimate Legend.....
