ITR owners: your view on the S2000
I just got a chance to drive one for the first time earlier this week.
To put it bluntly, I am in love with the car.
Straight line acceleration is not the best.. but it's fast no doubt.
Honestly, my Integra feels faster in a straight line.
The S2k has a tad more low end, and the motor is just smoooooth as hell.
But the main aspect is.. the handling. OMG, I can't express this enough. I don't think I have EVER been in a car that handles better than this. Also the RWD aspect of it makes it all more fun in the turns.
I am seriously considering selling the Integra and purchasing a used S2k.
Any feedback is appreciated. Lemme know what you think.

I've never driven one, but I'm not impressed by what I have seen. I think the best encounter I had with one was in Atlanta. Jack, are you out there?
I'm not a big fan of convertibles either, which decreases my aspiration. However, once/if the hardtop arrives, that may all change. I've got a buddy in town that has one. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but it seemed much slower than the R. I'd like to experience the handling for myself though...
Jason- who likes the S2K, but wouldn't give up the R for one at present...

I had the opportunity to drive an S2K a few months back. Just as you said Mike, hands down the S2K performs better! You could literally feel the car moving as soon as you began to turn the wheel. It was almost telepathic!
The driver position seems to a lot better than the Teg too. It is definitely a driver's car!
Drawbacks(for me at least): Space. You can't carry anything in it. My ITR is my daily driver and I have to carry stuff at times. This wouldn't happen with the S2K. If it was my garage car then who cares!
Second, was head room. I'm 6'-2" and with the top-up my visiblity was limited by the upper edge of the windshield. I'd really be concerned in I slide the seat up into my track position and had a helmet on!
Definitely a great choice, but not an ITR. The ITR felt aggressive and raw, something the S2K lacked.

i took one out for a drive before . i was gonna trade the r for it , but then i stomped on it and went nowhere. . . . as i said before its a great ***** magnet and prob handles pretty good for rwd, , , ,other than that i wasnt impressed.

As for the S2000, well when I was deciding on which car ( ITR, Camaro SS or S2000) i thought of everyday use and reliablity.
Now the camaro ss is a very impressive car but the way i abuse things and it being a GM ...
second the S2000 is right where I wanted to be, well first i have no room for my fishing poles, sex in the backseats(what backseats?), and the top would allways be up, not because i hate the sun but because i have no hair and it would definatly look like I'm having a mid-life crisses
So then i came a cross the ITR and wow it has all the things i need, and now one year later, i refuse to take it anywhere out of my eyesight or garage. FEAR of losing it to a criminal

I would love to drive one some day and form my own opinion, but the cacks at the local Honda dealer won't let you near 'em. They even have nerve enough to sell them for $39k, not a penny cheaper

S2K for $39K

Jason- who would have a VERY hard time paying MSRP for a new S2K!
I find the S2000 to pretty much be a better performing and looking car in all aspects compared to the ITR.(my opinion of course) But for an extra 8 grand that should be expected. the downside is that the car is not very practical, but it makes an awesome "2nd" car.

Seriously, though: imho I wouldn't get one unless it came in type R trim with hardtop, more whp, lighter, and less cushy sound deadening and leather crap...
I have a hard time looking at $32k-$35k for that car when I can pick up a used fd3s in r1 or r3 trim for ~$15-$20k and more whp, just as good handling, and more aftermarket stuff readily available...
Then I could mod the **** out of it with the rest of the $ and go so much faster...
I wasn't impressed with the straightline speed of the S2000 either. The handling was very nice. I loved that aspect. The interior is terrible though. It's much too cramped. I can't fit in one with the top up. I'm keeping my R.
Positive: Great car for the money....get more performance then what you payed.
Looks cool.
Neg: I don't like the feeling of going 100+ in a car without a roof.
You see them everywhere
Good car if you are going through a mid life crisis

If you never owned or driven an ITR, then the S2K is AMAZING. But, coming from an ITR, it just feels like a RWD version of an ITR. What I mean is that the S2K is a reasonably fast, great handling car. Just like the ITR. It is hard to compare the two, they are designed for two different type of buyers. But, they just happen to perform similarily.
Last summer I purchased a 1990 Miata. To me this is the "poor-man's" S2K. It is a convertible; The handling, shifting (heal-toe in the Miata is sooooooo much fun), etc. is equal to or better than the ITR in some instances; the drawback is that it is underpowered in a straight-line. But, I don't care, because in autocrosses, the Miata (not mine, yet) posts FTD's because you rarely have to use the brakes. The car handles that well.

mike just wait til the hard top comes over, car looks sweet as hell though...that silver color is tight at night with the HIDs shining...i say keep the teg, you spent so much time and money on it building it the way you want

i love the S2, i drove my friends before he took it in the shop. Its the dad of the ITR. Just little things make it better....like speed, handling. I love it and i hope that could be my next ride. Prolly the best made car
Watch those riduculous prices plummet when the new Z gets here...280hp for ~$27k.
See, the thing is that they won't plummet. Honda's pricing scheme leaves alot to be desired. I has some negotiation room on my Integra. Odds are, had I pulled the same thing on an stook, I would have been laughed at. Regardless of the competition, Honda seems to always be able to sell their cars for the price they want.

s2k is beautiful and the ride I took it one proved it is oh so smooth, you'll get more respect then in a teg but you still will be in a honda, it doesn't have the curb appeal of a porshe, but now with cars like the WRX and nissan Z, it is out gunned for less money so performance can't be used to defend it. I was just at the detriot auto show, i'll take the new GT40 thanks!!!!
