Anyone have DIY gauges into dash install?
Has anyone seen a write up or DIY on installing boost/temp/oil etc.... gauges into an EG dash (the area right above the glove box) ?? Like tools to use, techniques to not screw up the dash, things to remove or look out for before cutting...etc... things like that.
You could do it one of 2 ways.
1. use a dremmel
2. Use a drill with a hole bit, the size of your gauge.
Then run the wires like normal. Just make it a little smaller hole then your gauge so it stays.

I believe there is space behind that part of the dash so you won't run into anything when you cut. The heater core is behind it but you have room to work with. I would just take exact measurements then make a template on paper and line that up then do what Luserkid says.

I did mine right there, and can garentte theres nothing behind there. The piece under i think has some hard stuff there that youll have to get around, but dont quote me this is off the top of my head.

SHAME ON YOU!!!!!! that looks like S#!t !!!! what were you thinking!!!!!
Gauge aint even straight.</TD></TR></TABLE>
This i know that was my first time doing one and i did it with a hand drill. The reason why the gauge isnt straight is because if it was i wouldnt be able to read 0-40 Its a oil pressure gauge and has to be tilted.

Just use a dremmel and take your time, and make sure (if using a drill bit) that it doesnt get stuck in the material (like what happened to mine). But as you could see for my 2nd one (first pic i showed) it came out perfect.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, but seriously use a dremel take your time and cut away small amounts and test fit... to get that perfect fit. Please for the love of god don't just attack it and cut it out to the guage size.
