Default NASA-TT class calculator

I found this NASA-TT class calculator and thought I would pass it on:

That's cool.

My H4 civic fits in TTE.

I have no idea what this means, but I thought you'd all want to know.

I guess that it means I should look it up in the NASA rool book.

I only had +22 points. Does that mean you should be 39% faster than me?

a Dseries CRX built to H1 spec (ZC pistions, hondata, etc) would run D... and maybe C if you did too much body work with fenders and such.... thats kinda funny... since a stock ITR is E (+5)

MMsports, what "spec" is that?

FormulaIntegra, I got TTE too for an ITA CRX but assume there is an alternate formula for an IT/PS car (there wasn't an allotment for no exhaust was there?).

No, it only had an allotment for an aftermarket, cat-back exhaust.

I actually fit into two car model categories, as there was an option for either a 88-95 Civic, or a SOHC Vtec Civic.

I used the SOHC Vtec the first time, and got a base class of TTF, +22 pts. modifier, and with a resultant class of TTE.

The second time I tried with the 88-95 Civic, got a base class of TTH, still +22 pts. modifier, with a final class of TTG.

E class would put me in with stock ITR's, BMW 3-series, Neon Srt-4's, Mercedes SLK's, 63-82 Corvettes, and the Subaru WRX.

Really not sure how my mostly race-prepped Civic EX coupe would do against those.

I think the 88-95 Civic classification is for all other non-Vtec Civics in those years. Bummer. I don't think I could stand up to evena stock Z3.

OK....not sure but it doesn't look like NASA's class calculator has been updated to match their new information (at least for here in the OH/IN region). This might be forthcoming, I think they just released the new Time Trial points within the last couple of weeks.

It's not automated so it's a little more work, but here's their new points system:
http://www.nasaproracing.com/r...n.pdf

Some of the differences that I noticed:
- It's +5 for any R compound tire now
- Some more weight reduction points for things like removing HVAC
- Alot more stuff in the suspension category
- Points for rollbar, cages and aerodynamics now

I did the time trials class TTE in my Miata last year....but now if I follow the points above it looks like I'm on the edge of TTD. So I'm scared that some of you ITA guys would be in the class below me, I know I'm not that fast!!!

Mike, how is your car not the same as mine? How many points did you wind up having? Also, a question for anyone, if my car never came with AC to start, does that count as removing it?

Hmm, that was fun. My '73 Celica (which really isn't even listed for a "base" class) comes in as a TTC car, up from a TTF base, with +46 modificaiton points.

That puts me with a Supra Twin Turbo that is running mostly stock...

Probably not really a fair fight.

Well, I don't understand what that is for, but, I ran my car through it and got classed at TTC, seems to go in with ITA cars. But... the car is a GT1 Corvette, lol.

Is that counting it as a Civic with a swap (TTG +7 pt) or starting as an Integra non-VTEC (TTF)?

The classing seems to heavily favor engine swapped cars. A CRX with a GS-R engine will explicitly run the same class as a GS-R. Since the JDM Silvia is NOC, a 240SX with an SR20DET is still in TTG against heavy hitters like... Saturns.

I actually dropped a class from 2004 to 2005.

TTD in 2004
TTE in 2005

No changes made.

TTD for my turbo Integra on Azenis, TTC on race rubber... based on my lap times versus other cars that are in those classes, that's surprisingly good classing. Too bad NASA hasn't spread to Colorado yet...

They run it in a separate session specifically for the TT, not during one of the HPDE sessions.

Isn't Group 4 run with racing rules? So it wouldn't exactly be "out of environment", just a little more crowded
