i;m probably not doing it 100% right, but i find all you really need to do is to get the right wire speed and heat, which will pretty much sound like frying bacon when you've got it. then just lay your bead straight down, you don't need to do any of that circular **** with the gun, just pull or push the gun straight at a constant speed to lay your bead. keep in mind, this is how I do it, and i have had ZERO training on this stuff, I just bought a flux core wirefed welder and kept playing with it till the beads looked nice.

so you might wanna wait till someone else chimes in.

for my HF welder on exhaust pipe i found the 4-5 wire speed and HIGH heat setting worked best for me.

try this motion... start bead for a quick sec, then using short baby strokes (1/4"?), foward, foward, back, foward, foward, back, foward, foward, back , foward, foward, back.

or sometimes i do a Z --------"zZzzzzzzzzzzz" this way----->

i'm not an expert at welding but also keep in mind that angle helps too.

I weld to HF and bought this welder http://www.harborfreight.com/c...44567 and for being a beginner, with an artistic person , this welder is great , im sure the miller and linc are better, but im real happy with this welder, works great runs fine, just learn the wire feed setting, and heat you will do just fine, i just did my test pipe, and welder a shitty muffler on my back up car 87 corolla,

SO for all the beginners go buy one best $100 ive spent in awhile
