Gettin old!
Can you beleive it's been this long ???
Yeah, I've got some miles now... it was only yesterday that I bought my ride.
Now I have 90,000 miles on it
I've always been psycho about keeping it in good shape. The interior and exterior are in perfect condition. However, I've been noticing driveability changes.
For one, my gear box is crunchy at times (most notibly when it's cold) and I can hear my clutch on the 1-2 shift (yeah, time for a new one). I've done minor boltons.. mostly brakes and suspension upgrades. Ram air, exhaust, 1step colder plugs, no cat, advanced timing, FPR.
The car actually still drives pretty smooth. But the suspension is squeaky and I bottom out alot. Not to mention I need an alignment cuz my tires are clamshelled.
The Arospeed springs i have are probably getting mushy... thus the bottoming out on spead bumps. The Tokico 5-ways are nice, but I was always curius as to how long they'd last before they wore out, and if I could get them revalved for cheap if need be ?
It definitaly doesn't feel as peppy as it used to be. What I'd really like to know is... what needs to be done to bring some life back into a car with high miles ?
It doesn't feel nearly as tight as it used to ... feels more loose in every aspect.. and the power sometimes feels gone compared to when it had 30,000 miles.
I've had the whole 100,000 mile service done by honda.. and as far as I know have had everything changed out that needs to be. Timing is set at about 17 degrees..
I want to swap out the F22 for a nice 95 OBD-1 H22A but unfortunately can't until funds allow. But in the mean time, I'd like to hear from others about what they've done to bring the life back into their high mileage accord ??

You've done just about everything a good Accord owner can do. You've maintained it, given it presents, man
I do a lot of the same, really I have just learned to deal w/ it's getting older and getting more and more miles. It'll never run as good as the day you got it, but I mean crap, put these miles on a ford or chevy and see if it's still running nearly as nice as our Hondas.

that's nothing. 72.5k and mine's a '99.
That's what it's for.

Thats exactly what they're for... what good is a car, if you dont drive it. At least in my opinion anyways... and you know what they say about those.

Well those are all obvious signs of age. For the transmission, I'm not sure how to stop the cracking, but polyeurothane shift bushings should make it feel crisper. And for that sqweaking, I have that too, thats just suspension bushings. The cheaper solution is get polyeurothane suspension bushings. I mean the whole kit. Or get all new suspension with aftermarket sway bars to make it handle crisper. And strut tower bars and lower tie bars to tighten it up. Your car is good for at least another 100k if treated right.

hehe 93 Accord EX here got it a little over 4 years ago with 36,000 miles on it, as I write this in Florida (live in Jersey) I now have 207,000 miles on it. And still going strong. Gotta love the Honda Quality!
94, about 102k, odometer reads 122k, but it came from a junkyard when my gas guage stopped working. She's getting a newer motor with an extra cam in a few months.
