OK im in the process of collecting parts to turbo my D16Y7. I'm aware of things that I need and I just need to get a few things out of the way/prepping the car until I get the turbo kit.
I know my Y7 IM blows so I'm swapping it with a Y8 IM+TB. I've searched every single thread recent and archived but I read different responses and no definite asnwer. I hope that this thread would end all questions regarding the y7-y8 IM.
I have been told by fellow member s73 (hey thanks for the a great info regaring the IM but I just want to double check you know
) that:
"You got it...... since you have a manual 99 y7, the easy way to do it is to get a 99-00 auto y8 IM. A manual 99-00 will also work when u block off the holes that are left from removing the iacv on the back of the IM.
extending the wires may not be needed (but it would be a tight fit....wires such as map, tps, maybe iacv)....but coolent lines that supply coolent to the iacv will need to be extended.....you can just buy bulk fuel line hoses of the right size from an auto parts place...usually about one buck a foot.....the only reason for extending these lines is due to the fact that the TB sits at a different position then before the swap....y7 facing up, y8 facing to the side....
i am not sure about this, but i have been told that the throttle rotor needs to be used from the y8 tb.....the y8 tb that you have....is it from an auto or manual, if its an auto one, i think just bolt it on to the im....no need to bother with swapping rotors...
also....its a good idea to get all new gaskets when you do the swap......such as....IM, TB, injector seals and o rings....and i think new crush washer for fuel lines......" GREAT INFO
Any other comments to this? So basically I would need a 99-00 AUTO Y8 IM for my y7 MANUAL IM to make things easier such as extending coolant hoses and various wires? Can someone make an actual step by step pics or detailed instructions so maybe we can make this a sticky for future references

If you plan on using your y7 throttle body you will need the throttle rotor and spring from a y8 throttle body. If you need that I have them along with a brand new oem Honda y7 throttle body gasket I'll throw in for free. If you had posted this a month ago I would have had everything you needed for the swap and coulda sold it to you.
With 96-98 auto y8 manifold all you gotta do is jb weld the cruise control nipple on the back. With 99-00 auto y8 manifolds you have to weld the cruise control nipple along with the 4 tiny air injection holes on the flange and the big nipple extending upwards from the flange. If you use a manual y8 manifodl you will also have to weld shut the iacv holes on the back.

OK the guy didn't show nor mention anything about using the throttle rotor on his DIY, I have a y8 TB already attached to the IM, meaning I dont have to worry about swapping the bracket for the cable and the rotor right?
Right. Hope you didn't get a 00 manifold, as these have funky air injection holes that must be plugged... no one's mentioned it so far, so I thought I'd throw it in.

Yeah if you already have the complete y8 tb then don't worry about it. He mentions it in the beginning of the DIY where he lists what's needed.

I did mention it in my first post.
