Why is my brake light on?
which brake light?
the one on the cluster or the tail light?
most likely it'll be the switch.
e-brake switch - cluster
brake pedal switch for tail light.

If your fluid is low then check your brake pads BEFORE you go topping the fluid off.
The fluid reservoiur has a float sensor in it (two wires coming off the cap) to let you know when the fluid is too low.
Fluid only gets low if you have a leak or if your pads are worn.

I'll reiterate. I've heard people talk about brake fluid leaks like they were nothing important. Thats the single most important fluid in the car and there's never an excuse for a drop to show up missing. </TD></TR></TABLE>thats exactly it, i had no leaks, reservior was full, worked fine. I was leaving a car meet one night, and went hmm, my brakes feel a bit soft. Ah well, probably just got some air in the lines from all the racing on teh way there. Nope. The pedal went all the way to the floor. Finally got stopped after some large downshifts, and checked fluid, none there, had it towed home, and sure enough, all the paint on the firewall gone from where the fluid seeped out between the mc and brake booster. And I thought it was jsut cable stretch in the ebrake mkaing the lgiht stay on. Now, I got lucky, and was able to get off the road safely. you may not be. This is not something to take lightly
