Pics of my latest project (56K Get a drink)
I don't know if you notice it, but in civics you can never see the screen of the stereo because of the sun hitting it. So I decided to swap my cupholders from my 99 for those of the 96-98 and relocate my stereo. Here are some before/afters. I am currently waiting on Mr. USPS for my block off plate. Here Ya Go...
Oh and before you point it out to me, that neon in the middle is gone now.

This hole will be closed up soon

Gotta love the alpine tilt screen which will make this nice. I also still need to either cut away some of the cupholder or make a narrower face place since the alpines is too big to fit int he gap.

For the hole in the dash, I bought a radio block off plate like the ones that came on the ek9's. As for the din mount, I just purchased a set of 96-98 cupholders that had the factory cd player there as an option. I picked it up off a buddy on here.

The stock harness is long enough to reach to the bottom. And like I said about I am closing the hole with a block off plate like the ones in the type r's.

what you should really do is get the factory am/fm radio and place it in the top with the factory "cd holder"piece instead of doing a block off plate. This way it looks like it is a stock system and people will be less likely to break in. That is the way that I installed my cd in my 98 civic. Kept the factory stuff up top and moved the deck to the bottem.
That is all you need. The 96 player will bolt right up to the spots in the 99-00. Plus if you got an aftermarket deck harenss attached to the stock one, that will make it long enough to reach down. As you can see in the first pic, the second plug down (black one) is my stereo plug where it sat above and that is zip tied and bundled up. It connects back in the center where the white plug is. As you can see there is plenty of extra to make it reach. But if you are doing it with a factory unit, you will probably have to redo the wiring and externd it.
Here is some info on the part numbers in case others needed it.

Here is a picture of just how long the wiring is once the aftermarket harness is connected, and that is tied up. It is about another 5 inches longer. How that helps ya AZN. And Netlogic thanks for the info for the others.

Make sure that you unbolt the panel from the bottom. It should give you enougt room to pull it out a few inches. Then there are tabs you have to push in on the sides of the connectors. I think it is the side that is facing the steering wheel. If you can't get them with your fingers, push the tab in with you finger and pop it with a screwdriver.
