You should list the things you tried to help eliminate the possibilites and redundancy.

rule out the easy possibilities first such as checking your fuses, grounds, etc.

^^ Dont forget to check all the simple things

Wont a bad alternator cause a battery to die since it is not charging? Have you replaced anything in the electrical system recently?

A bad alternator you can almost feel coming as you will have power issues over time. That is just from my experience with batteries however. His seemed to have suddenly died on him without anything working. My guess based on information provided is a bad wire somewhere. Maybe more detail like if it started up fine when u jumped it and died. One of the first things you can do is pull the battery from a friends car and test it or take yours to a shop and have it tested. A battery test can determine whether the battery is bad or you need a new alternator, or both.

Check all the connections at the battery, alternator, starter and main grounds. Also check the "main" 80A fuse in your fusebox just to be on the safe side.

When you jumped it and it started, did it died right after you disconnect the cables or shortly thereafter ?
Try dropping in a battery from a friends car, when it starts discconnect the positive lead from the battery..if it dies then your alternator is gone.

check all electronics and belts then
check idle, and timing, distributor, spark plugs, wires, if your not getting any power it has to do with the power supply :lightbulb:
maybe it got outta whack...

I couldnt sleep at all last night and on top of that my mom wanted to go check it out very early this morning(thanks mom).So we get down there at 8:00 after droping of my brothers at school and the whole time i was thinking the worse.Anyways i get there and im very happy that its still there and nothing has been stolen.

I tried to start the car and nothing happened just like last night so i then took out the battery and we drove down to schucks.Schucks tested the motor and it was reading 4volts so i just decided to get a new battery instead of waiting to get it charged(mom still needed to get to work). We bought the battery and got back to my car and i put it in and it started up but i had to take of the wire going to the starter because it was sparking when i tried to put the battery on.

So now the car drives great and im glad it wasnt molested so im going to go ahead and get a new starter on friday and install it.Case closed thanks you guys

Congrats not having to spend a ton of money fixing that issue. Look into why its sparking because you dont want to replace a starter if its not bad.

hm...i don't see how a bad starter would make your car suddenly just shut off while you're driving and come to a stop at a stop sign. atleast you got it runnin again though.

if you car just shuts off while your driving, it sounds like its your alternator and if your alternator isnt connected to your battery when your car is running it could cause enormous amperage that will ruin the alternator and shut your car off.. just a lil bit more information..
