working on tranny...how do I hold down flywheel
I need to know how to hold down the flywheel so I can take out the star 17 socket...I dont know how I did it last time but I didnt need that much force but now I do...and the flywheel spins
learned this from a friend
-screw in a tranny bolt inside one of the lower tranny mounting holes
-stick a small bolt inside one of the flywheel holes
-get a wrench with a open end and stick it on the tranny bolt...turn the flywheel till the wrench hits the small bolt on the flywheel
hope i explained it ok
good luck...or just buy a compressor

to answer your question, no, it will not mess up the teeth on the ring gear.
