I've got a dynamax muffler w/ 2.5" piping... Make sure you have a resonator or somthing like that... If you just "strait pipe" it and throw a muffler on there then it'll be loud (most likely) Greddy makes some nice sounding systems, ES oval is nice too.. if you are strapped for cash then you can go to auto zone or something like that and get a "cherry bomb" BRAND muffler... Gives nice sound yet it's a "stock replacement" They go for about 30-50 bucks... http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/exhaust1.htm

ive got the greddy evo2, and i love it, its coupled with a test pipe and its nice and quiet, unless your about 4500 or higher, then its gets nice and loud. 505.96 w/ free shipping at http://www.morepowerracing.com

Sorry but I would never pay $500. for an exhaust. No offense but that's ridiculous.

I have a Borla turbo muffler on one of my cars with 2.25 piping I still have a cat and everything and it sounds a little deeper than stock but it still is quiet enough to not be too noticeable in the car.

I have greddy sp II on my sol with a b18b swap. Very mellow deep tone until @ 3500 rpms and at 4500 the sound comes back down. I have a free flow cat now that makes it a good deal louder but was just deeper than stock exhaust with stock cat. Like the other guy said it was expensive but I always say if you'd spend that kind of money on your girl, why not spend it on your car.

I got a hole in my muffler, always pretty loud I want to get the the greddy exhaust. If you say 500 is to much for and exhaust try owning a VW corrado, 250 for g60 seals, 300 fog lights, 500 headlights, 515 aluminuzed exhaust, 600 stainless steel. That is true pain in the wallet region.

got a greddy sp also. a lot of people say greddy is too loud, but i have been more than happy with mine. although, if i had to do it over again (now knowing a little more about cars) i would have just bought a muffler, hi flow cat and taken it to a local muffler shop for the piping.
