Z6 head on Y7 block timing
Like the tittle says I have a Z6 head on my y7 block, I keep my stock distributor ( have to custom made it to fit cause only the z6 distributor fit on the 3 bolts of the z6 head), I keep my stock wire harness and buy an OBD2 to OBD1 conv harness and Im running a P28 ecu. every things is ok but some timing problems, the stock timing from a Z6 is 16 +/-2 BTDC and the stock timing for the Y7 is 12 +/-2 BTDC ( the red mark on the crank pulley is for the stock 12 grades from my Y7), my question is what is the right timing for my engine 12 or 16? how do I set my timing correctly?
thanks in advance

16, you no longer have a Y7, it's now considered a Z6.
use a timing light, slowly rotate the dizzy till the timing is where you want it.....while the ECU is jumpered in the car so that it doesn't try to electronically balance the adjustment of timing you are making.

you can use the z6 dizzy
just take everything out of yery7 dizzy and put in yer z6. in otherwords..just use the z6 housing and transfer everything over. i have done it.

Yes I was thinking on that, the Z6 dizzy will make things easier.
There is one thing I dont have clear , the marks on my crank pulley are diferents from the ones on a stock Z6 crank since the stock timing is diferent?

Kind of....you still have y7 crank pulley. Which mean timing marks are slightly off.
You can correct this by either eyeballing it, or with an adjustable timing light
