Default question about non-Honda car

I own a 2001 Prelude 5 Speed, Satin Silver. but, my girlfriend's mom drives a 1997 mercury sable. bleh... 121k miles, she bought it with 109k miles on it. ever since she bought it, when you slow down for a stop or whatever, about at 5mph the car will jolt forward slightly. as if the brakes cut out for 1/2 second. i dont think its an uneven rotor because this only happens at about 5mph, i dont feel it at any other speed while slowing down. any ideas what could be going on? i topped off her brake fluid. i realize this is HONDA-tech, but i know there are many mechanics on here and this sounds like a universal brake problem. any ideas guys? thanks in advance.

Could be the trans isn't shifting out of gear until than that is what the jump is. check trans fluid. Try putting it in netrual than stop see if it still does it.
