I Just decided that I am going to paint my wheels tomorrow, What kind of paint should I use? I am assuming that you would clean the wheels completely, and spray them, They are the 14" HX wheels. Thank you in advance.

paint them flat black. you get what you pay for so buy the most expensive can. flat black looks hot!!

 

my friend just did his gsr wheels in flat black..used high temp engine paint...looks really good

 

I used Duplicolor (Krylon's automotive line).

1. Wash
2. Sand
3. Prime
4. Wet sand
5. Paint

just was them and paint them u dsont have to do all that wet sanding stuff. my friend painted his hx wheels gun metal. they looked pretty good. i panted some 96-gs-r wheels metallic black. it suits me.

 

am I the only person that thinks flat black is old?????
I had flat black and had to take them off.....isn't flat black so 2001??

 

One of the wheels I painted I didn't do a wet sand and you can tell it from the others because it has some chips in the paint and the others don't. The cost and time of doing a wet sand is minimal so why the heck not do it.

 

flat black primer is nice too, then you can touch up whenver you want...

 

how much do those weigh? just curious...

 

i have a 93 del sol Si. its red. im thinking of painting the rims white and makeing the H in the middle red then lowering the car to the max. so i dont have to buy new wheels. kinda tight budget. what do u guys think?

why dont u guys just powdercoat the rims? wont spray painting the rims lead to paint chips? ive never tried it so i wouldnt know. is it cuz of cost? powdercoating shouldnt be more than what, $200 for 4 rims, plus like $80 to dismount/mount/balance the tires?

 

i literally took 500 degree engine paint and a very small amount of clear coat to get this. plus if it chips (which it hasnt yet has a nice finish) i can always just respray yes painitng rims maybe old but i was bored with a set of 96 gsr rims
