Default Thinking of buying a hatch,which model to get???

Well guys, I am going to be selling both my crx's real soon and I am thinking of getting either a civic hatch or coupe. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My goal is to get the car into the mid 12 second range and still use it as a daily driver. I have about $5k to spend right now and I am looking to get a stock fifth gen. civic and start from there. So what model would be the best to start with? I will be doing a swap in whatever I end up getting, probably a b18c. Thanks in advance

i messed up and payed way too much for the Si.
if i could do it over again, i would have got a VX and used the rest of the money for a B18C1.

the VX and CX were the lightest of the EG's and the VX is already wired for VTEC plus it comes with a tach.

Yeah I heard that the vx and the cx are the lightest models and the si is one heavy sob. What about a coupe or is it better to just go with the hatch?

If i were you i would just narrow it down to two models. But you would have to decide, which is more important to you??...........remember the si has 4disc brakes something that no other eg has, not saying you couldnt do the swap but since it already comes with it youll save some headaches.
SI= comfortability+4disc+sunroof VX=light=easy *** whooping

I would suggest the CX or VX. I did the rear brake swap on my CX and it cost a mear $300 installed. SIs usually demand more then a $300 difference over the lower models. Plus the added weight of the SI will make it more difficult to achive your qtr mile goal. But like it was mentioned earlier, its upto what you really want. Good luck.

if your looking into the 5th generation civic+swap i would definitely go with the VX or CX. like others have said the VX already has the vtec wiring setup. both of these models are slightly over 2000 lbs.

Does anyone have any pics of vx or cx interior? I would like to see what it looks like, and is it comfortable? I am leaning towards the vx right now, I might go out next week and see if I can find one around my area for sale.

If you can find a VX in good condition, go for it. When I was thinking about getting an EG i wanted a VX, and couldn't find one anywhere.

Good Luck

if you want a hassle free car get the si, the sohc d16 has some pep, fun enough
if you want a killer, get a cx with some miles for cheap and a jdm gsr engine which would come out to the same price or a tad more than a low mile si

i would get a cx hb it is just as light as the vx but the vx has those really light 13 inch rims which makes it 40 lbs lighter but if your going to put a motor then you need 15's so don't worry about the rims on the vx get the cx because it will most likley be cheaper because it does not have v tec but it is not good vtec it is vtec economy so don't get all hyped up the cx is better

all '92 and most '93 CX's that were built in canada already have VTEC wiring but it's not connected to the ECU. so if you can't find a VX then try looking for a '92-'93 CX.

this might give you more cars to choose from. but i'd still keep my eye on the VX.

I don't have any pics of my 92 VX interior but I could take some. It looks just like the better models (EX, Si). It has the cloth seats, cloth portion on the door panels, etc. My friend had a 92 CX and it came with vinyl seats which I think look cheap and suck. The 92-95 hatch's have basically the same interior other than the door panels and seats. Plus you could also upgrade to GS-R seats, they'll bolt right in.
