Default Engine for my CRX

I need help. I am on a budget, but I want a good engine. I was thinking for low end I would go with the ZC dohc, but aftermarket oppurtunities or out there for that? Or my second choice, and probabley the wiser one, is to get the B16A 1st gen. If anyone knows of any aftermarket items that would bump the zc up to about 200 to 250 hp, please let me know. Thanks alot every body.

Turbocharging the ZC will get you to 250 and even higher if you build the bottom end and tune the engine correctly.

Do you know where I can get parts, i.e. cams, turbo kit, pistons, engine management, that kind of stuff for the zc??

SO if I order parts for the engine, everything except cams will match up with the d16 engine?

Allthough this is a question that's only been asked 4923$194783**3290;438 TIMES, i'm going to reply because i'm in a good mood (just received my GWAR dvd from ebay)

There's really a LOT of options if you're on a budget. I think the biggest question is how mechanically able you are to work on your car. Obviously if you're inexperienced and paying somebody to do the work, it'll be much more spendy.

If you're thinking of a "low budget motor" IE: ZC, SOHC VTEC...then boost is always a great power adder. If I were you, i'd consider a turbo kit.

There ARE aftermarket parts for the DOHC ZC as well. A common thing to say on this site is "ZC aftermarket sucks". Sure, there aren't nearly as many items for the ZC, but there's stuff out there. Besides, if you really want power, you'd boost it anyways...and boost is universal.

FYI, there's a guy in an 89 Civic sedan with a boosted ZC running consistant high 13's. He did the whole thing on a "budget". Just an example of what's possible for you.
