Will these 7x10's fit in my Civic?
I know I have 6x9 speakers back there but according to design these will fit the opening. Seems like the answer to my 6x9 dilemma! Anyone know if I will have to mod to squeeze them in?

I thought so too! I have REALLY been looking around. I spent last weekend listing to the Boston SL-95's (supposedly their best) and others. These go 30 HZ which none of the other 6x9's do that. I am sticking with stock locations so I am looking for the most low bass out of them. Not only that but they have nice sized silk tweets! Should pound! DLS is supposedly real good stuff so if these pan out and will fit it should make me very happy!
I put some 7x10's in the back of my CL and then in the back of my Integra sedan (both in 6x9 openings). My 7x10's came with a mounting plate, basically a spacer, that allowed me added depth and the ability to fit them in a 6x9 opening. You probably won't be able to use the stock speaker grill, but they should fit in there.
Good luck.
Not to hijack the thread, but I am looking to sell my 7x10's (Kenwood's) cheap if anyone is interested.

So you wasn't able to use the stock covers? What were the mounting dimensions on those? Did they sound better than 6x9's?
One other question.... how do you gain access to the cover or get into the speaker to take it out? I don't see screws at the top to pull the cover off.

"So you wasn't able to use the stock covers?"
No, I was not able to use the stock speaker (OEM) grills. I tried to fit them in with some spacers, but it looked pretty ghetto - so I just used the grills that came with the 7x10's. It wasn't that big of a deal. I wanted to use the OEM ones to remain stock looking, as opposed to the black grills, but ohh well........

I don't know........I can measure if you want (they are just sitting in my basement). What exactly do you want measured?
"Did they sound better than 6x9's?"
I think so, yes.......Without a sub, they definitely sounded better than 6x9's IMHO (I think they hit lower than 6x9's do). However, if you add a sub, it doesn't really matter, and that is pretty much why I took them out - so that I could go to a more stock looking 6x9 and the OEM grills.
I had the 7x10" mounted on the deck of a hatchback once (cut holes in the hatch lid), and it sounded very nice when appropriately powered. Unless you REALLY had it loud, it sounded like you had a sub in the back.

I don't know what kind of car you have (a civic maybe), but the OEM grills in my car were attached by screws from underneath (inside the trunk). Try looking there. Otherwise, you will hvae to ask someone more familiar with you specific car.
Good luck!

I have a 98 Civic LX 4-door. I plan on putting 100 watts RMS to them. Think it will sound like a sub?
What hung you up on fitting the stock covers? That is the part I want to know if mine will be too big. Maybe the length?

if you have that, lemme guess, the Civic Rear Deck looks all nice and smooth as if it is one peice in the back deck right? You wont be able to use grills on that, they dont come off, the WHOLE panel comes out to replace the speakers... its a pain, but worth it in the end.... You probably have enough room in there, I had one of the peices of my rear deck come off from a bad installer... I had to super glue it down... so I have pics of how deep it is so you can compare.
Yes.... It is one piece. It has a key opening in it for some reason. I have no clue how it comes out. So you think they will fit fine in that? Anyone know how to get the deck out to work on it?
