My friend has a a full 98 wrecked obd2 gsr and he want to swap it in his 92eg.

i told him this but i am checking if i am worng

1..unplug the gsr from the fire wall
2..pull the motor out
3..pull the wires form the fire wall to the ecu
4..do the same three steps to the civic
5..replace the gsr fire wall wires in to the civic to were where the ecu goes.
6..drop in the gsr in to the civic(replace with proper engine mounts)
7.. buy that a ob2 to obd1 adapter
8.. buy a obd1 gsr ecu

could he skip step 7 and 8 if he keeps it obd2

he has a full doner car so what did i tell him wrong

From motor to firewall, keep the OBD2 wiring.
From firewall to ECU, run OBD1 wiring (They'll plug right into each other).
Get a OBD1 ECU.
Plug it in, fire it up. No harness needed.

Not sure if its the same on cx (or w/gsr for that matter), but on my dx I had to pull the MAP off of the firewall and relocate it to the Intake Manifold.

I believe thats it. That worked for a 97' ls into my 93'dx. Good luck.

ur gonna have 2 run a vtec wire if u use ur stock cx harness with the gsr harness like mwieczorek43 said, or u could just use the full gsr harness and rewire 2 obd1 and get a obd1 p72, but u gotta really know ur wiring. good luck with the swap

O'yeah, good-call! I forgot about vtec. Wierd how easily you forget about it when you dont have it. Running the vtec wire is a piece-of-cake. You could do it with your eyes wide shut. O' wait.... aren't all 92's pre-wired for Vtec?? I think they might be, but I'm not sure.

Im telling you its a piece of cake to run a vtec line (if its not already pre-wired in 92).

I think he meant all the rewiring to run a p72 is a challenge. Not running the vtec.?

 

the way i posted he does not need to run the wires for the butterfiles and will be cleaner when done and he can use his obd2 ecu

 

So, if I read it right, you're saying just drop the motor in... run all OBD2-wires (from motor to the ECU). And you wanna know if you can call it a day with that??
I'm sure theres a billion ways to do this..

You're gonna need to convert to OBD1 somehow.
My way, eliminates the need for a jumper-harness, but isnt the "cleanest" either.
or
If this is a show-car and cleanliness is your goal, then just buy a jumper and call it a day.
