Anyone in here drag race snowmobiles?
Just wondering if anyone drag races snowmobiles? I used to do it all the time when I was younger then got out of it for a while, and sold my drag snowmobile. I still have an older one that I take out every once in a while to play around with. Wondering if anyone else drags them or even has one and would maybe want to put a little event together.
Bored at work just thought I would throw this out there.

UnderPressure,
Where are there good places to ride? As you know I just moved to the east coast but, a family member of mine here in CA (i'm visiting) is willing to get rid of a 02' RMK 800 that I was thinking of scooping up and I would definatley be into doing some riding/dragging when I get back to DE.

well I ride up at my winter house in old forge NY. It is about 6 hour drive from my house in PA. But you can not beat the trail system. Nice wide trails and always groomed. We usually put on between 150/200 miles a day.
Around here in PA is really hit and miss b/c we usually never get much snow. This winter has been pretty good though. I usually ride fields and places like that around here. But if you are going to get one Upstate NY is the place I recommend.

Well I am pretty sure they still do it here, but at Irwindale they race snowmobiles, atvs anything. Although they won't do shifter karts I tried to ask already. Damn NHRA has no rules for racing Shifter Karts.
Snowmobiling is what I do when I am not working on the car in winter. 97 (prototype) XC 700. Nothing like legal racing threw the trees or on the oce.
there are grass drags in the summer and you can bring your sled to the track at some events at Cayuga (TMP) or St. Thomas dragway, never seen an event with payouts though.

My dad used to have a XCR600 triple I ran in 500' grass drags and ice drags. That bastard was fun, best ever was a 4.6 in 500'. Now he's into the lake racer/trail sled aspect of things. He has a 900 Artic Cat, last year with a good chunk of bolt ons it went 112mph on an 800' radar run. It should fly this year with the port work and bigger motor.
The guy I work for has two that he drag races. 1/4 mile on pavement, they put it in the bike class. The slower one is deadly consistant and runs 10.40's all day. the other he just got another engine for (1000cc?3 cylinder pro mod)and the sled that it was in ran a best of a 9.20, i belive it was at 140+mph. Can't say it will run that in this sled but we will see once the season starts. They are pretty fun to watch.
Bump for PA and it's recent single digit weather!

I remember seeing my first snowmobile at Pomona racing against motorcycles. I was like WTF is that? lol.

Me and my Dad both have sleds, havn't gone to any real drags in a few years though. I have a 2004 RX1 with a Simons CPR turbo on it. It's pretty fast but I'm tearing it down this winter and rebuilding it with a bigger turbo and a built motor. Gonna do a GT3071R more than likely.

How about those snowmobiles at Maple Grove. Those things are insane. Its funny when your sitting in the staging lanes and watching them all you see is a helmet going down the track since they sit so low

boostedblack99 here on HT used to grass drag an XCR440 edge. i would always pit for him. we took a 4th place at HAYDAYS (which is a large event) here in MN when we were like 16. i forged his parents signature on the release waiver so he could race

There used to be 2 out here in orlando that were raced on pavement. Everyone was like wtf when they were lined up, but once they took off, believe me, you could've have heard a pin drop that's how quiet it was. 2 brothers owned them and that's all they did. 1 ran consistent 10.3's and the other was in the high 10's. It was pretty awesome to watch. Especially when the front end lifts up.
