Default Poor Gas Mileage

Hey guys...just upgraded from an old 88 Accord S to a 1998 Civic DX Coupe. I've been driving it for the past couple of weeks and have been finding my gas mileage has been a lot less compared to my old 3G Accord. To me this doesn't make any sense-I know this car has a smaller gas tank (about 38L compared to 48L) but my old car was carbed and so I was expecting to spend less on gas with this one. Now, as far as mileage goes I've only been getting about 400kms (250mi) to a tank. Is this normal? I don't drive it like a maniac-I shift at the increments suggested by the owner's manual. The car has no performance mods, although it does have a remote start system which I avoid using because it wastes gas. I knowthe car recieved a minor "tune up" before I got it consisting of some spark plugs and an oil change. It also recieved a new O2 sensor because it woldn't pass the emmissions test without it. The car has only 132,000 kms on it from new. I just seem to see the gas guage plummeting faster than expected, my fathers Civic EX gets 550kms to tank. The car does not smell rich when running. Any ideas?

tire pressures/alignment out of whack?
fuel filter
Sparkplugs/ wires / cap rotor - does it miss at all?
clogged CAT?
What kind of 02 was put in it? Some crappy ones stop working well after a few months.

There is a long term storeage for fuel trim in the ECU. You can unplug the battery for a few sec and this will reset the ECU. See if it makes any difference.

Do you drive mostly hwy or city?

I drive mostly in the city with a few hwy trips a week. I will try the battery thing. I have noticed the car does not start as fast as my other civic. Could this all be the battery not being strong enough and giving a weak spark?

I forgot to mention I am going to check what brand the O2 sensor is. It has only been in for about 2 wks tho-but I've heard aftermarket O2's can be really crappy.

check air filter... and when its gets the the e line you have about 60 miles left.... then the light comes on but once the light comes on get gas.... or you'll get stuck somewhere i get about 300 to a tank in my 97 lx/vtec
and your car is straight eco... so try it..

I forgot to mention they also replaced the air filter before I got the car. They replaced plugs, air filter and o2 b4 I took delivery.
