Clean rotors...
Hey there HT. Im not Ronin150, but im posting something up for him. I dunno if this is the right spot to post at, but whatever. Anyway, he just got some used brake rotors to go along with his swap and they needed a good cleaning. So here's a tip that i guess could work on cleaning just about any part. All you have to do is wipe em down real good to remove any thick caking or oil and then spray it down liberally with lemon juice. Straight lemon juice, not diluted. Then after it dries scrub it down with a wire brush or anything abrasive. Then repeat as needed. I'm sure the pic speaks for itself. The quality isnt real high cuz i took it on my camera phone, but it works.
Actually brake cleaner and a brush would have worked wonders. Then get them turned to make sure they are true. That would also cleaned them without even having to do more than just carrying them to the shop.
Nice to see people using food items for cleaning. Like something out of a alternate car remedy book or something.

They are powerslot rotors I picked up from Rostr02. Bamma is getting wilwoods. I couldn't even afford the rear rotors from them. The pictures do the rotors no justice. They were taken on a camera phone cause my camera is in the shop. One year warrenty was almost up so I might as well get a new one.

It's just a tad bit hard to put em on the car and have the pads clean em while doing an engine swap. Besides i needed something to do.

Geez you lazy bum
Nah nice little tip. Why did you use lemon juice? Why not just brake cleaners? Do you like the smell or something? Do the Acids break it down pretty good?

Doesn't Lemon Juice cost more then Brake Cleaner? It would be more economical to blast a couple passes of cleaner on it and wipe and you would get the same effect. But good job on teaching me a new way to work on a project without the appropriate tools/materials
Ad-Lib maintaince is my favorite.

The lemon juice was like $1.00 for a bottle the size of a spray bottle. I didn't smell but my place smelled lemony fresh. A whole hell of alot better than bud. Damn neighbors. And yes I was bored. I really don't have anything to do at home and it's been like 3 degrees here so working in a non insulated garage isn't that great. I have a space heater to keep me warm, but it has to be above freezing of the heater doesn't do anything. The acids break it down greatly. After it dries you really don't need a wire brush. It dries up and flakes away and the rust falls right off.
