Default am i wasting my time with mini me?

i am in the process of building a d15b2 with a z6 head, i have stuff like cam and springs,, i/h/e, underdrive pulley, chipped p28, ex head gasket, skunk2 cam gear(aem likes to jump)and im looking into act stage 2 flywheel and replacement clutch and throwout bearing. there was a big difference after i did the head swap and the bolt ons gave a noticeable gain, but i was mainly wondering if i am i wasting my time with the d-series motor

The best thing to do to a d series engine is to build it for boost. It has somewhat low compression and a sturdy bottom end. You're not really wasting your time with the d if you go this route. I did a y7/y8 mini me and some mods and wasn't really impressed (n/a). I switched to an ITR engine and love it.

If you are on a tight budget there are ways to build a cheap turbo setup. Just look around the forced induction forum, you'll find everything you need there.

i dont think its a waste of time....im in the process of collecting pieces too....nicely built SOHC motors will run with DOHCs given its not boosted or anything....some people have CRX HF with only I/H/E and run 14.2 1/4 with chipped ecu. I like the D series due to the fact that if you make it fast its more impressive. just my 2 cents

I'm considering keeping my D15 to build once the new B18/B16 goes into it. Mostly for ***** and giggles...just to see what I can do. My friend's say it's a waste, but come on...that's mad props if your sohc 220K mile 1.5L engine beat anything. And dude...what an embarassment, LoL. I think it'd be fun

to build a a dseries motor that would inturn beat a b-series or at least keep up would be an accomplishiment, but putting lost of hard work and speneding lots of $$$ may not be worth it
loc and chokey v

you have to think....a stock 99 civic Si runs the quater at 15.7....stock crx Si runs 16.5....crx Si with mini me runs 15.5 with no mods.....but if you say a b16 in a crx that is a diff story.....it just depends on what you compare too....there are some people on here with mini mes stock can beat LS with ease...but like i said it just depends on what car you compare it too not just the motor...no **** a z6 will get raped by a 16 but a z6 in a crx hf vs b16 in a 99+ civic Si thats a whole diff story.....the crx will win every time....stock vs stock...just dpends on what car...
