Rusted flywheel?

Hey guys. I have a z6 that's been sitting for a little while. the flywheel is rusted. It isn't extremly rusted, I can rub it and most of the rust will come off, is this okay?

the flywheel is the disc with teeth on the edge right?

Yes that is the flywheel. If I were you, I would take it to get resurfaced and see how deep the rust goes.

How much do you think that would cost about?

Is it not recommended to shave off some of the flywheel to reduce weight?

it will cost from 50-100 from a machine shop

damn.... can i just sand it myself? It looks like I can get out most of the rust just by sanding, but would this mess it up?

i had mine done last week. it was $15. if they quote you more, go elsewhere.
