This was originally posted in the Audio/Secirity/Video section, but it looks like that particular forum is slow moving. I'll try my luck here.

I searched for a little while and, while I found some info about a couple of shops, the info was from 2003. I'm looking to have a keyless entry security system installed in my bare bones CX hatch. I'm going to need actuators on all 3 doors, as well as a good name brand system. I don't want to take it to Good Guys or Circuit City due to past experiences with shady audio installs.

Does anyone know of a good shop in the LA area that does exceptional work, while offering relatively reasonable prices? Thank you.

i have the intelligaurd750 installed in two of my trucks. they are great. trying calling steve strictly security and sound in redondo beach. hes an authorized clifford dealer and has done all my alarms in the past. tell jason(bj) with the explorer and f150 sent you.

I called Tai at Audio Industry and he gave me pretty decent quote for what I need. He seems pretty knowledgeable. I going to go check out the shop and see what kind of work they do.

While we are on this subject – who in SoCal has a stereo hookup or knows a place where they sell good refurbished equipment? I always hear about places in LA but the only ones I know about you have to buy in bulk I think. I am looking to get a decent Apline or Eclipse deck.

automotive entertainment in pasadena does some great installs. not cheap, but they stand behind their high quality work. heck, the ciruit city 2 blocks away sends their cars there when they've fucked up

I just talked to Mike at Automotive Entertainment, and he quoted me $410 plus tax for a Clifford Arrow 5 (lower end security system) and all the door actuators. That doesn't sound like a bad deal, considering I really don't need an advanced security system.

I've been quoted less for similar systems, but some of some of these shops don't really sound very trustworthy or knowledgeable.

I'm not looking for a deal. I'm looking for a shop that does good work at reasonable prices. There is a difference. I could go to any alarm shop to get a deal, as you put it. I could even go to Circuit City. I'd rather have good work than cheap prices. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Viper.. I have duel siren in my DC. I love the fact you can go under your dash and set the sensativity depending on where your parked. Mine has worked perfect. I worked at a shop and we sold 2 or 3 a day continously for a year or more, we still sell them like mad. Swear by Viper.. very easy to install too

Hey, I got in touch with Steve at Strictly Security and Sound in Redondo Beach. I talked to him for a while and he seems really knowledgeable about vehicle security. This guy doesn't advertise all that much, and as a result it took me a while to get his contact info. He told me he used to repossess cars for a living and would regularly bypass alarms within 20 seconds. Steve also mentioned that he used to teach the hated craft of stealing cars to repo men apprentices. Like I'm sure most of you will agree, he went on to say that any security system, regardless of features and price, is only as good and effective as its installation. Steve and I talked for a while about some of the common ways that would-be thieves break-in and/or steal cars, regardless of security systems. It was an eye opener to see how vulnerable our cars really are. So anyway, to make an already long story short, I'm going to go check out his shop and see some of the work he's done. I'll probably make an appointment for next week to have my security system installed.

Steve also asked me to let you guys know that he's willing to give your cars a security assessment to see how secure you car actually is. From what I gathered, I think he'll do it for free, assuming that if he found something wrong, you would make arrangements for his shop to fix it.
