Default What kind of fluid do i put in my 93 d series manual trans

What kind of fluid do i put in my 93 d series manual trans? Do i just put some regular oil in it? Or do I put GL5 in it? Please let me kno. When I changed my clutch it looked lik the fluid leaking out fo the tranny was thick like GL5. But somebody else told me to just put regular oil in it. I need to kno the which one is the right stuff to put in it.

Don't use a multigrade weight in a transmission (10W40, 5W30, 20W50 etc.). Use a 30W or 40W. I'm not sure which weight it is, so check your manual. MTF and Synchromesh are about the same price as regular oil anyway. The SM Friction Modified is the expensive stuff, and you don't need it if you're not having any grinding.

If you go to checker/autozone, they will tell you to use 10w-40.

I personally only use honda mtf, though.

And if you look into your manual or Helms, it will tell you not to.

Thanks for the input. I went to autozone and the syncromesh said for GM and Chrysler vehicles? I think ill just go see how much the Honda MTF costs and probably buy it.
