Car shakes at 40mph +
My car shakes violenty from 40mph and up. The whole car and steering wheel shakes? Anyone know the cause? I was told it was a bad axle? Didnt hear any clicking noises when turning, at low speeds the car is fine. Any help is appreciated...
Wheel bearing, alignment, bent rim, bent sunspension component, uneven tire pressures...could be a bunch of things...
Have you hit any curbs recently?

i do notice the car pulls to the left a little

Get an alignment, and see if that fixes it.

if the shaking only exists while you are on the gas, it is probably a bad inner joint. being from NJ, you may have a build up of snow on the inside of your wheel if this just started happening. but if those 2 arent close, start with balancing your wheels and go from there.

And a wheel balance too.
Does it shake or pulse when on the brakes? Warped rotors can cause vibration, but you'd feel it while braking as well.

How do you know that the rims aren't bent?? My cars rims are bent but it doesn't start vibrating until around 60 and then when I get past 80mph it becomes smooth again. Try putting on some stock wheels and see if it still vibrates. If it doesnt than thats your problem if it does, than one other response i didnt see was to check your motor mounts? Just a thought.

Also, get your front end checked out...but sounds like you have shitty tires...bad or camber weared tires cause this more often then bad parts, but you never know...

Yes, I've had it happen a few times. It's rotational mass, so being warped can cause vibration; but since the mass is pretty evenly distributed from the center, and has a fairly small diameter (as opposed to a tire) they have to be pretty bad to cause vibration at speed.
