carbon fiber cutting??
i just recieved a franks custom carbon fiber dash and need to mount my gauges and switch box. as you know auto meter gauges need a round cut hole, would i be better off using a dremel with a rotor-zip style attachment and slowly make the cut, or get a hole saw bit? will it splinter with the bit? also the tach and speedo need a large hole i think around 4 inches, hole saw or freehand dremmel? the painless box needs a straight line cut about 6 inches long . needless to say i am very nervous about cutting up my new dash please help. thanks in advance
I used a dremmel on it when I cut a piece of finished CF. I used one of the cut off disks to rough cut the outside of the circle, and then opened it up with a sanding drum. I also taped over the finished side to protect it from scratches and to prevent splintering. took forever but it turned out good.

is that to keep carbon particles out of the motor? I've read that cutting CF with a dremel can kill the motor if carbon builds up inside it.

good to know, even if it is better late than never.
at least you can replace the brushes
