Throttle Position Sensor
I need a TPS to correct the reving that my Del Sol does on a constant basis. Can anyone help me locate one, without having to go through a dealership? If so, please e-mail me at boredwoman@hotmail.com

Are you sure it is the tps?
I had a bad tps and it idled fine, just ran crappy.
Is it throwing a tps code?
By constant reving, do you mean, at idle it revs up and down?

I think I know what he is thinking on this. could be the IAC (idle air controller).

wrong
D series you can buy seperate TPS, K series you cannot. I have no idea about B series.
check if the TPS and the IACV plugs are switched, it makes the car run like ***
Peace

Also you can check the TPS voltage to determine if its working or not.
Which D-Series motor is in the Del sol?
With the throttle fully opened it should read about ~4.8v
With the throttle fully closed it should read ~.5v

Okay, here's what I do and do not know. My mother has a del sol, and her car was doing the same thing, reving up and down, and she said she had to replace her TPS to correct the situation. No, I have NOT checked as of yet, if my car has a bad TPS code, I will do that tomorrow afternoon. I will also have my mechanic check the IAC and see if the plugs are switced. I do not know currently, I will find out tomorrow, which series motor I currently have in my car. Man! This is hard! Ask one question and you get hit with five zillion! I will do my best, and give you all more info tomorrow, thank you for helping me identifiy what the cause maybe. We've alrady been to three different mechanics and gotten several different possibilities on what could be causing the reving. I just want to get it fixed so it sound right on the road when I'm driving it!
Thanks,

Ok, if you are running a d15b7 engine, i may very well know what your problem is, and solution.
Your engine starts high idle (possibly, may not) and after it slightly warms up, it pulses from around 1-3k rpm...
Posible Causes:
Vacuum Leak
FITV
IACV
TPS
Ok, to find out if its a vacuum leak, start up your engine, pop the hood, and get a good ol fasion can of choke cleaner. Spray the stuff on you're vacuum lines and if the engine sounds different afterwards, you got yourself a vacuum leak, and you can isolate which line it is by spraying each one...
2. FITV can cause the problem. If you take off your FITV (which is a bitch and a half, but if it has to be done...) and shake it around a little bit, you may or may not notice a little rattleing. If you do, This is Definately your problem. Solution is to open up the back end (the flat end) and screw the white peice back in. If it does not rattle around then i would suggest opening it anyway and screwing it all the way back in (it causes high idle and it will eventually unscrew itself, so be on the safe side)
3. IACV. You're IACV may be either dirty, or bad. To check this, take some choke cleaner (i suggest Seafoam Deep Creep) and spray it into the holes in the TB (the one that leads to the IACV), it will clean the screens in there and maybe solve your problem. If it dosnt, try the other 2 before replacing as it may cost some $$. (also note if the IACV is malfunctioning you will get a CEL)
4. TPS This may be your final cause, and dont replace this unless its completly necessary (again, malfunctioning IACV will give you a CEL)
Check the CEL sticky on how to check CEL codes, and if you do not have a CEL, then dont worry about
Hope that helps

It could be your TPS sensor. And it would be that without throwing a code. Ive had that problem a few times. Although it could be that your IACV needs to be cleaned. (This is on the back of the intake manifold, to the right of the TPS if your looking towards the firewall) If you are looking for a cheap replacement, check ebay or your local junkyard. You might have to get the whole throttle body. If you do, you want one for a D-Series motor. (all 92-95 Civics and 98% of Del Sols). Good luck!!
ok msmaureen contacted me since she is my sister in laws aunt....anyways she has the stock motor that came in her 94 del sol si which i think was the d16z6......the reving she is speakin of is it actually surging it began once the temperature changed from fall to winter....mods done to the car is a base greddy kit w/o intercooler...i have no clue what causes the surging since iv'e only dealt with n/a and have never had that problem

look at my post above...it can be vacuum leaks, IACV, FITV, but TPS would be last thing to check since it causes CEL
