90 Accord won't start
1990 Accord..parked in the carport 2 nights ago and ran fine...went out yest morn to start..............no way?????? Cranks like a ball of fire..... no spark... changed cap and rotor.. coil seems to check out OK according to the book....how can I check the igniter?????? Any other ideas out there as to what might be wrong??? 125000 miles, 4dr, tan, bra, 4 tires plus spare & a few stray dog hairs inside for decoration.... One more clue.... several times last summer......ONLY when car had been driven and left parked for a while, it would crank fine but not fire...after several on off cycles of the switch and just hitting the starter briefly, it would start up and run, sometimes rough at first, but then everything was OK... not this time...... it was cold and no go at all,, The bright side is that I now have a problem I can solve, as it is no longer intermittent......but I need your help and advice to simplify matters thanks in advance
Good boy schlit..
Do you have spark?
Do you have Fuel Injector pulse?
Do you have fuel pressure?
Check for codes...
does the car have an alarm/ignition disable system?

Thanks for the help, guys.. I didn't even know there were codes, but now have located that section in the repair manual and will let you know what develops..It says that there is a readout right on the ECU on the 1990, so we shall see.... Thanks Phil
There are no codes on the led readout on the ecu, and I can't get the engine light on the dash to talk to me either... The book says to use a paper clip or jumper wire on a plug to read codes on the dash, but does that work on the 1990 which the book says reads out error codes on the ecu???? Phil
we jumpered the plug, but still no codes on the ecu or dash...... the engine light just stays on steady ????????????
it's fixed!!!!!! It was the coil after all...it tested ok, but I finally swapped one out of my brothers car, and that took care of things, so replaced it witha new one.....Thanks one and all Phil
