Replacing front/rear speakers (crutchfield)
Knowing basically nothing about audio I think I'm going to get some replacements to my teg from crutchfield. What do you guys recommend from them as far as new components for the front and new rear speakers. I do plan on getting a small sub and amp later. Infinity make good stuff? I saw a set for the front components for around $200. Seemed like a good deal.. I dunno..
$200 infinity or boston components are going to be really hard to find. . .eclipse makes a good 6/12, but they are not component speakes.
This is what I was talking about. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-ecNJH0YlcFA/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=410&I=108605CS&o
&a=1 How hard would it be to install these?

Do not buy them from Crutchfield, they rip you off. Check out Ebay, that's where i got mine. I bought the Infinity Kappa Components 60.3 from there for only 154 plus shipping and they are way better than reference series. Here is the link:

I think other stores sell them for 299? Im not sure but they look and sound really good. I have a small amp powering them up and they sound better than MB Quartz. Just check it out.

did you buy from them? seems like a good deal. how hard is it to install these? Where do the crossovers go? That's what's appealing about crutchfield is they'll send me some instructions.
Also, do I NEED an amp to power the fronts? I have a 47x4w deck.. will that be enough for now? thanks

Yeah, i bought it from them. I believe they are located in Florida and dont worry, they can be trusted. The install is a little more difficult since they are component speakers. I mounted my crossovers inside the door panels. Then cut out the holes for the tweets and your done. You dont necessarily have to power them up with an amp but, i recommend that you do if you want to hear the best quality sound from the speakers. I have these powered up by a small pioneer amp and they sound great. And the tweets look badass too. They come with a flush kit so it looks really clean. Silver looks sweet too.
Kappa series are very good in quality.

I replaced my stock speakers with Cerwin Vega's from Crutchfield... They were a bit $$$, but I'm happy with the quality (and customer service.)
ive found crutchfield to me more $ than most local stores. i would recomend eclipse and polk. infinity seem bright and boomy to me but they are good too. you really have to listen to these spealers though. dont go by what someone else said. you dont have to hear them in your car but at least side by side.
crutchfield is actually having a free shipping deal right now that makes it cheaper then most and they will send you diagrams on your car if you ask..
what car do you have if you have an integra it has factory tweets so you dont need to cut.

Yeah, it's a GSR. Man, this whole time I was thinking I had 6x9's in the back
Duh! I guess there actually 6 1/2's. Do I mount the crossovers in the door?
