wheel noise
hi, i have an 89 lxi and i wonder what could be making a noise. my first guess was the CV joint, but I think it is something else. It is more of a thock thock thock than normal clicking of the CV. As part of my repairs to this car, I replaced the boot on the left joint. It was still greasy inside and not dirty. Put a quickee boot on and squooshed in a full bag of grease.
I hear the noise when lightly accelerating and turning moderately to the right. If I turn the wheel to the lock and go around in circles either direction, there is no noise, which leads me to believe it is not the joint. The "thock" noise seems louder than a bad CV joint should be and more pronounced. My thinking is if it were the joint making that much noise, it would be ready to fall apart. Acclerating hard going straight causes no noise what so ever. The only time is going around a right turn.
This noise was there before other repairs, which included new springs, new shocks, new upper arm/***** and new lower ***** It's almost as if it were a vibration type noise, but I can't track it down.
Any ideas what else could be causing it?
