Can someone please explain the use of wheelie bars (if that's what these are...) on a front wheel drive?

On a FWD setup, with that much power, the rear of the vehicle squats like no other. So, since all the power to the ground is shooting from the front, the front needs more traction. Regardless of drag slicks, if the rear squats a lot, there WILL be tire spin. So, less squat = more traction up front = better 1/4 mile times.
