How much paint will I need?
Hello everyone. I want to know how much basecoat, clearcoat, and primer I will need to paint my 94 GSR. Will a gallon of each be enough? Also if I get all these supplies how much will a body shop charge me for additional accessories and labor? Thanks alot everyone.
BTW does anyone have a pick of an Integra in Pard blue/green? The color code is BG-33P and it was made for 94-95 integras.

What are you painting? Outside only? Door jambs? Underhood and hatch? Engine bay? Also, the color youre asking about, is that the color youre gonna paint the car?

Well the car is already that color. I have some new parts on it like front bumper cover, hood, and trunk that are black. I might just want to paint the outside because I heard the door jambs and engine bay are expensive. Do you know how much the door jambs and engine bay cost to paint? What about just the outside? Will one gallon be enough? I already found the color I need on paintscratch.com and it will be $291 a gallon for basecoat, $100 for clearcoat, and $100 for primer.

Please elaborate. What are paint ratios?

You mix the paint with other paint materials..... usually a thinner. It can be mixed 1to1 or 1.5 to 1 its all about the painters preference. Here to paint my rear bumper, lower wheel wells to blend into the quarters, and then the rear gutted interior, I was going to need a pint of Red. I think you could get away with a quart.
But its all your painters preference. Ask him or her.

I think they used a quart for my 92 civic hb.they painted everywhere except the engine bay, so door jams and all that good stuff. Most chops probably charge like 1500-2000 for labor I believe. I wouldnt know, a family friend did mine for a discounted price.
I cannot say how much it would cost for the engine bay or jambs, because every shop will charge you differently, but by what youve told me, I can tell you how much paint you will need. If youre using your basic brand name automotive paint such as Dupont, PPG, you would need
1 qt sealer
1/2 gallon base
1 gallon clear
These are estimates, because like others have said, it depends on the painter and or the kind of materials.

Because they will make money off of you on material to. It is cheaper to buy the paint yourself.Trust me I know.

Thanks for the help guys
What I want to do is order the paint and supplies because my school will do the labor for pretty cheap. They have an Autobody part in my vocation school and I know a couple of people in there with some pretty good skillz.

at most body shops it is not the paint that makes up most of the price it is the laber and unless your getting the paint for real cheap it will cost about the same if you got the paint or the shop does.
