Default need advice/info on insurance totaling out car

so my car is being totaled out from my wreck last wendsday. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1122047

From what I have gathered they pay you retail for your car in the condition it was in before the wreck. Then I can produce reciepts for the mods I have done and get money for those. At least that is what my insurance agent told me. Then what happens?

I have heard some adjusters let you strip your car of salvageable parts afterwards before its sold to salvage. Or you have to buy your car back from the insurance company and then strip the parts. Does this sound right? I don't know if I'll have to tow my car off somewhere to strip it or if I can do it at the place its at and then have it hauled off.

I still have yet to hear from any adjuster, and the guy who caused the wreck is of course lying about what happened. I'm hiring a lawyer so I don't get screwed. I'd just like to have some inkling of how things work out.

I just totalled my 94 ex with a B16a swap, it had 227k on the car, not my fault, the insurance is giving me 3500 for the car and I am buying it back for 400, with the swap still in it, hope everything works out for you

my CRX was totaled

I was given a check for the car(took 2 days to get $$ from when the adjuster looked at the car) and then bought it back for next to nothing. from there I kept what i wanted and sold the rest. actually made some money on the car.

see if you can buy it back def. worth it.

#1 If you pay property taxes on owning your car (some states) take the value the government assigns to your car, otherwise take the blue book retail value (NOT private party).

#2 If you have all of your receipts of your mods, take that value.

#3 Add up the two and that is what you should be owed. The insurance company will most likely low ball you, but you have the right to reject their offer and state your reasons. Give them copies of receipts and copies of the BBvalue or Property tax value. If they come back with a low number again, reject it. If they do it a third time, tell them you're getting a lawyer involved and usually they will cave. If they dont, get the lawyer involved and take them to court.

#4 If you are hurt you should get a lawyer involved because that can get really messy.
