Default To Mod Integra Ls or Not To Mod?

Hey,
I was wondering is there anyone out there that build a LS. Just a LS all motor without vtec. If there is list what mods you have on it and how you like it. I'm going to start modding my LS but I just need to know is modding a LS worth it. Thanks for the help.

LOL, he has a point....

IMO, it's not worth building to an extent. Either boost it or swap if you want to get decent power gains, if you just want a little bit do your basics, but in the long run it won't be worth it to build that motor.

LS motors, like my 2001 are really only good for around 130hp with the basic bolt ons, Intake, header, full exhaust, proper air fuel dilevery etc. I found out the hard way that I sould have bucked for a GSR.

How much power are you looking for? You can get a decent amount of power from the ls with basic bolt ons and a set of crower cams, and if you wanna go a little further get a tranny swap. It depends on what you're looking for. I cant see myself building my Ls with anything more than these.

I think you should mod it. An LS with just cams and i/h/e should be in GSR territory. And if you really must have vtec, a vtec head is only ~$500.

getting a properly built LS/vtec will cost a LOT more than $500... it's more than just slappin on a vtec head.

there are plenty of all motor LS's on this board making good power but it depends how much $$$ you are willing to invest. for now, do wat a lotta other LS owners (like me) have done and invest in suspension mods (shocks/springs or coilovers, sway bars) until u have enuf resources to either do some heavy duty NA mods or go FI.

I'm ignoring the last part, but anyways I managed to get the I/H/E combo for about $300. Shopping around, and Not bad for a few ponies. I have plans on building a turbo LS soon. Turbo is the way to go if you want real power. Save up 2 grand and you will be able to do some major damage. (If you know a few people that can help with the install.)

with an unlimited budget you can come close to 220 h.p. at the crank semi-streetable on pump gas, there was a guy on team integra that did high compression and aggresive cams that had a 170 whp dyno sheet which is around 200 hp

Well. If you wanna build an LS motor, BUILD it. dont just do IHE.

Get inside there and get a good High C/R pison with a good lightweight rod. Get some Crower 404 cams and then do all your intake exhaust work. I've seen some 200whp LS motors (non-vtec) and they are quite impressive Course i'd rather do an LS VTEC though with a high-CR and shoot for 240whp

everybody has a different opinion but it all comes down to what you want to do. If you want a lot of power turbo it. if you want decent power without doing a swap or turbo go with ls/vtec. if you want decent power without vtec grab some crower cams and tune it. whatever you want to do is a nice choice

LS's can actully be not that bad alot of people underestimate them cuz they dont have Vtec. Start with the basic Bolt-Ons and then if you still want more power turbo it...LS engines are great to turbo. If not that do what I did sell it and get a GSR.

$500... close... i'm getting a reconditioned b16 head for $600 complete. now as for a sucessful LS/VTEC your gonna need more parts than just a VTEC head and an LS block. search it over and you'll see that you can't just put a VTEC head on an LS block. i could start listing parts and such, but like i mentioned, it's been covered numerously. i'm spending around 3k for a reliable LS/VTEC form Epic.
