Default Anyone who knows about building engines please help....

Hi there,

I just picked up a jdm d15b cheap which i'm going to build for boost. This is my first time. I want to take my time and pick up parts when they come up cheap. If i strip it back to the block and shove some rags in the intake ports and exhaust ports, how long can it stay like this without being detrimental to the engine? Say if i took two years before it was all back together. Will air and moisture destroy it? What can rust or will it be ok if its oil coated? Same question for the coolant paths and corrosion.
Thanks for any advice.
