Default When Rotas Attack

So recently I had some complications with new wheels. I had just gotten a new set of Slipstreams, but (long story short) I used the wrong type of lug nuts and it caused the wheel studs on the right front to snap off. Here's some pics of the aftermath. Just thought i'd share

Did the wheels studs snap while you were driving?

I reused the lug nuts that came with my old wheels. unsure of the brand, as they came with the car.

No. They had a different end compared to an OEM unit. Apparently that's where I went wrong

Yea, everything's kosher now. Got the wheel studs replaced, got a replacement Slip, got the tire switched over and put on the car (with proper lug all around).

Do you have any pics of the lugs from the other wheels? You never want to use OEM style lugs with tuner wheels. I'm curious what they looked like on the seat.

were they the acorn style (rounded) or the (i hate when i goto a tire shop and they call them this..) "tuner" style.. which are more pointed. damn, you can instantly tell what happened to the wheel looking at the pictures, that ring around the edge, did it mess the rotor up? im guessing it didn't.. lucky you didn't wreck the car! did you lose control at all?

Didn't mess up the rotor, so it seems. I still have Brembo blanks i need to put on, so it wouldn't be a problem if they did get messed up. Thankfully I didn't lose control. I heard a snap, then a thud, then felt the car lean to one side. I instantly slowed down and pulled off to the side. Suprisingly, the wheel never left the wheel well

and who said having a lowered car was a bad thing?

A: you're an idiot

B: see rule A:

"No that's what happens when you have shitty wheels studs.
"

the studs may have already been cracked, over tightened or the lugs may be the wrong type not poor quality

I am very curious which brand lug nuts you used. Post pictures when you get the chance.

That Rota rim held up pretty good after taking such a beating.
