cleaners
ok finally got the 86 si started. its been pretty cold around here low 40s. and the only way we can get it to start up is if we prime it, or it its already been running and is warm. wen we start it and its cold the idle jumps from about 1200 to 900. once its warmed up it idles fine. my question is could this be because of the fuel injectors? also the gas that was in it was about 1 1/2 old, so were gunna drain the tank and put new gas in there. if it is the fuel injectors or even the old gas, what cleaners should i buy that will help clean the fuel lines and injectors. i know like stp makes sum stuff but is there anything u recommend? and any ideas on why it idles like it does? thank you
You can go by some denatured alcohol from home depot but you do not want to let this stuff just sit in your gas tank.
The only other fuel cleaner that I have seen work or is worth buying is the chevron kind.

Nope, are you throwing any codes ? I would look at the idle air control valve ( iacv or eacv)
The iacv lets extra air into the intake manifold, to help control the idle under different loads.
Check the O-rings, for mountng condition.
Clean the inside of the Valve after removing, using any kind of solvent that will remove carbon build up. By spraying it inside the two holes ect...
Place the flat end of a screw driver on the EACV while the engine is running. Place the handle against your ear and listen. Should hear something in there jumping back and fourth at a rapid rate.
EACV Sensor Wires:
1 Blue/Black
1 Yellow/Black

Did you happen to read what I put, its not your fuel. If it was, it would be doing it all the time.

Just wanted to make sure you saw my post. Anyways pull back the carpet on the passenger side and look for a flashing red dot on the ecu ( ecu will be a gold box )
