If you did good by what?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I think he means did he get a good head (D16z6).....it looks as though he has an SI.....so I would assume he has a D16a6.....now Ive never taken apart a SOHC Vtec motor before.....but it looks like you have a vtec head....correct me if Im wrong....but it looks like there is a vtec solonoid in the corner.
Good Find

It looks like the motor that head came from may have been slightly neglected with long oil change intervals, but it'll probably be fine I would imagine. good luck & have fun.

what you need to do take off the rockers, then pull out the camshaft. With the camshaft out check for bent valves, scoring on the cam journals, and worn out springs or ate up retainers.
Hell best bet is to take it to a machine shop and let them check it for you. Its hard to tell for cracks sometimes and warpage.

maybe it's just me, but i say it looks like there is a crack in the head and some piece of metal that doesn't look right in the third pic of that head. it could just be my imagination, but it just doesn't look right. in one of the coolant holes there looks like a piece of something that shouldn't be there. and that same hole doesn't look very smooth either - i would definately have it taken to a machine shop and have them look at it very carefully before getting to excited - and make sure you can get your money back if it is a damaged head.

Also any recomendations on p&p would be greatly appreciated
all the machine shops in my area are lazy old farts that dont want to do anything or make money aparently the only tank in town is broke and wont be repaired till summer. he also said i would have to take the "arms" off it from him to check the valves. so iam going to do this myself any tips or tricks on this would be appreciated

You can also take some chlorinated brake cleaner or carb cleaner to clean the combustion chamber. That stuff and a toothbrush will take off almost all the carbon deposits. You can then check for visible cracks that way. While your at it use the spray to clean off the rest of the outside of the head.
