Putting on new Piston Rings
My friends got a a horrible oil problem, he is burning a qrt. of oil every 3 days and we think he needs new piston rings. Do we need to pull the motor or can we get away with less. And is this the correct problem becuase he is perfect on engine coolent so I don't think this is the head gasket.
I might get flamed for this but it is possible to do it with the engine in. Crank in too.
My bro and I did it this way. Head came off, pan and girdle came off... Basically we were REALLY REALLY thourough about cleaning up the sleeves and crank after we honed. We did put lil plastic bags at the bottom of the cylinder when we honed so we caught most of the junk.
Search I'm sure there are more details out there... But it can be done for sure.

that sounds about right, although, his valve seals could be bad. how many miles on the car? yeah, you can do it with the engine still in, just pop off the head and drop the pan. It looks like i might be having to attack this task as well. thats what i get for being into g2 integras. good luck to you and your friend.
