Need help changing brake pads on 93 Accord........
I'm helping my friend change his front brake pads, and I'm wondering which bolts to undo to change the pads. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Mucho easy, just undo the bottom bolt on the caliper. I think it's a 12mm it's pretty small... anyhow once you unbold that bold the whole caliper will swing up and you can remove the pads and shims. Very easy just check to see which side the pad with the wear indicator is on.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Just remove the lower bolt. This could be a pain in the *** if the sliding pin is seized (actually, the lower bolt IS the sliding pin.) I ended up shearing one of mine off, not realizing that the pin was seized and so the caliper wasn't sliding. Had to replace the caliper bracket on that side. I took it to a brake shop to have them loosen the bolt for me on the other side, not wanting to have to replace that bracket too. Good thing, too, because that sucker was in there good. Took an impact wrench & some heat to get it outta there.
When you are buying pads make sure you know if it is a Nissin or Akebono caliper, Accords from those years had both and they take different pads. My 92 EX coupe had Akebono.

After your undo the bottom bolt, you might need to hit the caliper from the bottom a couple of times for it move. Dont think that just because you undid the bottom bolt and its still not moving that your gotta undo the top bolt also.
90-93 Accord sedan had Akkebonno calipers. The coupes and wagons had Nissin.

Also, its a really good idea to lube up those sliders.. It will keep them from seizing, you willl get more even pad wear, and better braking.. Just use some never seize..
