Default Dsport magazine says 11 whp with the direct hits spark plug setup...

i read this in the magazine thought it was pretty tight .. but they tested it on a turbo car that already had msd. ignition on it and what not.. they took that stuff off of it and re dyno'ed it and it came out to be around 11 horsepower.. to the wheels i thought that was tight.. and the whole kit is only a lil under 200 bucks.. has anyone tested this or used it .. at all one of my frineds has it but he is not sure.. he only has an ls swap with intake headers and exhaust and the direct hits system as well.

i hope they used the same plugs for testing...or at the very least used new plugs for their baseline test.

in general I'd say it prolly bunk.

Um, unless the MSD system wasn't working properly I find an 11hp increase extremely unlikey.

Just to straighten out the facts here...

The car is a 1991 Civic with B16a and DRAG turbo kit.
The car had MSD SPARK PLUG WIRES NOT IGNITION!
The EF also had a new set of NGK spark plugs.

Then the Direct Hits system was installed complete with spark plugs and dyno'ed.
Gains were recorded at 11 whp.

Dyno graphs are in the magazine to prove it.
Pick up a copy and check it out for yourselfs.

here is the dyno chart and the magazine is article starts on page 36 and ends on page 38.....

here is the frst page with the article about the direct hits...

and here is a lil closer look at the improvement of the car mostly happend in vtec though when it engaged it gave more power.. so maybe its not just the Turbo car that made it improve maybe it had something to do with the vtec they said they will test it on more cars though..

I am in no way trying to sell any product here. I was also skeptical when i saw this system claiming it would make horsepower. I pretty much thought when i switched over to direct hits, it would yield no results in the horsepower department. Let me give you a little more detail on what happened.

Here are the details.
stock b16a w/ a drag gen 3 turbo kit. Ignition system consisted of NEW NGK BKR7E's with fairly new MSD wires. NO MSD IGNITION SYSTEM WAS USED.

I did 3 dyno pulls. 1 cold run let it cool down for about 5 minutes, then did 2 back to back. Peak horsepower out of the three runs were 226whp.

Then i installed the direct hits system which consisted of their own spark plugs which was a little bit hotter of a plug than the BKR7E's.

Then i did another 3 dyno pulls. 1 cold run let it cool down for about 5 minutes, then did 2 back to back. Peak horsepower with the direct hits system was 238whp.

Believe it or not, it made 11whp on my car.. i did all of the work/dyno myself and saw the gains with my own eyes. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Phil.

Is that a coil on plug setup and does it replace the ignitor and coil in the distributor?
