Default New to Honda, have some CRX ?'s

Hey guys, thought I'd inroduce myself, Im Zach and Ive been driving a Nissan 200sx for a few years and im thinking of switching over to the Honda side for a new experience with tuning.(never really did much with the 200sx) Anyways the next car I plan to buy happens to be a CRX. Motor swaps arent as big as in the Nissan world as the are here in Honda so I have a few questions. My plan basically sums up to a CRX with a B18 motor swap, internal work, nitrous and possibly a turbo set up (not to mention suspension). I understand the CRX didnt have a hydrualic tranny such as the latter integras/civic so how hard is this kind of swap going to be? And also i saw the CRX Si has a B16 (correct me if Im wrong with anything) a friend of mine says that model B16 wasnt DOHC, is this true? I thoought all B series were DOHC. Anyways thanks for the help and any questions you guys may have for me will be answered, sorry if this is the wrong place for the intro but I didnt happen to see a noob forum.

You can swap in a hydraulic trans easily with the HAsport Hydraulic bseries mount kit. The US spec 88-91 crx si came with the d16a6 engine. Welcome to the board and always remember to use the search feature before posting. Half the time your question will have already been answered.

B16 CRXs only came in Japan in the SiR model. They were never available that way in North America. The best we have here is the 1.6L SOHC Si.

Your friend is an idiot. Slap him for me. You are correct.

Wrong

The B16A1 came with the European EE8. So NO, the 1.6l DOCH with VTEC wasn't only released in Japan

Well if you want to get all hardcore techical then you can consier the Del Sol as a CRX because that is what they are refered to in Japan. And those came with a B16 too. But whatever you know what the hell Im talking about.

Welcome to the World of Honda and more specifically the CRX world. Take it from an “old” timer. You’ll learn early on that there are quite a few types of Honda people. The two to stay away from are the talkers, and the ricers, depending what you want to do there is almost certainly someone that has done it before. Just make sure you don’t take all that you read here as law. Do some research. A CRX is a very good choice for modifying. You will have a good quantity of fun if you do it right. Is it better than a 200SX… of course (if not I wouldn’t be here). Enjoy your stay and remember it’s not how many posts you have but the quality of the posts.
