prelude AFB cd deck in 92 Integra fun
Apologies if this gets long, but I want to give as much info as possible...
I have a 92 Integra LS, and my nice Clarion cd deck was stolen. I decided I didn't want to spend money on another one and risk it being ripped off so I got a factory CD player that was easy to bolt down, plus I don't have to deal with the wiring. Perhaps foolishly, I grabbed a Prelude CD player with the acoustic feedback system. Sounded horrible at first but with a bit of burn-in it got better, now what I have is a very nice, clean sound with great highs and almost no lows
From what I've seen by searching here, this cd player has a separate amp for the rear speakers, rated for 2 Ohms which the originals were. So, I don't have the acoustic feedback stuff and I'm not getting ideal power to the back speakers (mine are standard 4 Ohm 5 1/4").
I'm looking for low-cost, low hassle solutions since it seems like for a factory deck this one has some neat design elements and good quality. If there really is a separate amp for the rear speakers, could I splice into the leads and add either another 4 Ohm speaker (or woofer), or even a 4 Ohm resistor, in parallel to halve the impedance of the back speakers? Is it even possible to find a set of 2 Ohm speakers in either 5 1/4" or 6 1/2"? I think a small woofer or dual-cone might sound better than a 2-way.
I would also like to bypass the AFB if it isn't already.
I also have a suspicion that there is some kind of crossover happening so that the rears get more of the bass, but I need to test this and see if I can hear it.
The reason I gave all the background info is, certain things like getting a new head unit, installing an amp and installing a sub are just not going to happen right now (I'm married). I'm looking for any ideas for easy fun tweaks. I might try a factory EQ since they're dirt cheap on eBay, but that's about it.
Thanks in advance! the more info or specs anyone has, the better!

Sorry for the bump, but I found some new (to me) info...
Looks like the '98 Prelude had 6 speakers. Does anyone know if it had a subwoofer? It would make sense that I'm lacking bass if it's being crossed out by the head unit, and someone said there was a preamp out from that unit too.
I can get some Bose 2 Ohm speakers cheap right now, but I'm also wondering if there were 2 sets of 2 Ohm speakers wired in series for 4 Ohms total. Can anyone help?
