Default When I turn my brights on, everything else seems to go out

It happened just now on the way home for the first time. When I flipped on my brights, the radio went off and the speedometer fell as well. I'm sure all the other instruments also stopped working. Then, about 2 seconds later, everything came back on. If I flipped the brights on and off it didn't happen, but if I left them on low beams for 30 seconds or more and then flipped on the brights again, I got the same reaction. I haven't made any mods to the car in years, so that makes it even harder to figure out.

Any clue?

By the way, it's a '95 Honda Civic in good condition with no previous electrical problems.

My battery connections are good, and I had my alternator tested today--it's in perfect working condition. It didn't even drop a tenth of a volt when going to light load to very heavy load. Also, with all my testing today, the problem never came back. I'm extremely puzzled as to what happened now. It was dry last night while I was driving, but there may have been water dripping somewhere due to all the ice we've had lately. I'll just wait 'til the problem shows up again.

Thanks for the comments.
