I'm switching from non-HID to HID housings,
just wondering from those who've done it
what changes need to be made regarding clearance?

it only fits the new abs on tegs96-01? the older 95 version is so bulky it does not fit

 

wont fit cause you ranked out on EFs... hehe oh wait i kind of did too..lol

 

You can make it work I did it on my car just unbolt abs and move it back and over and make new holes and bolt it down. This ABS system is current till 97. 98 and after it is not necessary smaller abs unit.

that's REALLY ghetto and i don't recommend doing it (do as i say, not as i do ).
best option is to just get the 96+ abs pump. its not that much. but, if you accept your ghettofabulousness whole-heartedly, go ahead and move your abs pump like we did. i never had any problems.

 

then again....my car IS a 96 hmmmm.....

 

Headlights fit fine in my R just had to twist the a/c nossle to get it out of the way of the ballast

You have to move it back and to the right like an inch each way. About being getto think what you want, it is quite a task to change out the unit because it is not just the pump it is the computer and everthing else as well. I am changing mine to a 98 spec ABS unit this summer.(98 spec is the smaller one not 96) I did not want to mess with it when I did the conversion. In terms of the Type R I believe they are all the newer units. Got any more questions email me.

Yes 96 is still larger unit, 98 is the switch over.

i got mine for under a hundred. its close to 300 new, but im sure you can pull one from a junkyard.

 

 

How hard is it to do the change over....plug and play?

I'm lazy, I don't like pumping the brakes manually.

just make some brakets or you can wait till next winter when i go for my hella build (includes removal of abs) and you can buy my brakets

 

interesting....I'm going to have to "steal" that idea BTW.....got any blue prints for the brackets? If so...I'll need em and also I can have a guy locally fab em up for me
