Default d16a6 block - d16y8 head mini me

OK guys, I asked this a night or two ago and didnt get the exact information I was looking for. Someone at a Honda Performance shop today was telling me 'it wont work' without giving me any reasoning. So this is the question:

I have a d16a6 block (OBD-0) from a 90 civic si I believe. Also I have a d16y8 Head from a 97 EX civic. The y8 motor came with my car and the block is just shot to **** , previous owner was spraying BIG. So, is it possible to "bolt up" this block to my head, or is there going to be wiring problems? Someone was saying I would have to get it machined to fit the dowel pins on my head as well as relocate the oil pump. So, I am trying to figure out SPECIFIC answers on this.

If anybody who has experience with this swap please let me know. Thanks guy
