Default Adjusting the locking perch on a fullcoilover

I just got my fullcoilovers today and I want to lower the settings a little more.

Is it a good idea to adjust them while it's not yet mounted on the car?

I can't seem to unlock the perch because I cannot hold it really good since they are not yet mounted. Is it easier to lock/unlock the perch when it is mounted on a car?

Mine has 2 threaded locking perch for H&R.

One more thing...to loosen the perch I should rotate it clockwise right?

Thanks

Put the car on stands, and use a screwdriver and a hammer to tap it loose
